Shane Smith, Wharton-Smith Project Engineer Technician and Seminole State College of Florida student joined a team competing at the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Design-Build Competition and won second place! Officials from Mount Dora joined together with Wharton-Smith to break ground on Fire Station No. 35, which will serve the City of Mount Dora! 🚒🔥

The event included two fire service traditions — a blessing ceremony for the new site and fire engines and the time-honored commissioning of a new fire apparatus with an old-fashioned wetdown.

According to Project Executive Bert F., “This facility represents the City’s long-term investment in the Mount Dora community but also to the men and women who run towards danger to help those in crisis.”
