Kenneth Marcell III
Vice President - Gulf Coast, Water
Kenneth Marcell was named Vice President - Gulf Coast Water in July of 2021 after serving as Director of Operations for the Wharton-Smith's Baton Rouge Office. Kenneth has been with Wharton-Smith for 15 years and has more than 18 years of experience in construction. Kenneth’s responsibilities include management for the overall performance of the division. He is involved with all projects within the division — from business development to estimating and through close-out. He is responsible for ensuring that all projects have the proper resources to ensure success for all of our clients. Kenneth is focused on ensuring the success of the division while maintaining all of the Wharton-Smith core values. Kenneth joined Wharton-Smith as a Project Engineer in 2004, was promoted to Project Manager in 2007, to Senior Project Manager in 2012, Director of Operations in 2015, and now Vice President - Gulf Coast in 2021. Before joining Wharton-Smith, Kenneth worked for Western Summit Constructors in Atlanta as a project engineer on the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Facility. In addition to his professional experience, Kenneth graduated from Louisiana State University’s College of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. He is a licensed contractor in heavy construction, highway and bridge construction, and municipal and public works construction for the state of Louisiana. Kenneth spends most of his free time with his family getting involved in the church and school community of St. Aloysius Catholic Parish. He strongly believes in getting involved and being active in the community to build lasting relationships through service and fellowship. In doing so, he hopes to set a good example for others on how to be a positive and contributing member of the communities we serve. He is actively involved in his kids’ sports teams. He serves on the Louisiana Associated General Contractors Board as Vice Chairman of the Baton Rouge District. Kenneth lives in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife Kasey, their three wonderful boys, and a grumpy old Chihuahua named Chip.
