Nate Hillard
Director of Collaborative Delivery, Water
Nate Hillard was named Director of Collaborative Delivery, Water in 2019 and has more than 19 years of experience in engineering and construction. Nate’s responsibilities include the oversight and execution of preconstruction services for CMAR and Design-Build water projects. He also oversees the pursuit phase for collaborative delivery projects, including written proposals and presentations. The foundation of Nate’s approach is building trust with our clients during the preconstruction phase by providing open and honest pricing, a high level of service, and realistic project expectations. Nate joined Wharton-Smith as an Engineer Intern in 2004, was promoted to Project Engineer in 2005, Assistant Project Manager in 2006, Project Manager in 2008, Senior Project Manager in 2015, and Preconstruction Executive in 2016. Before joining Wharton-Smith, Nate was a systems engineer for multiple telecommunications companies including Nortel Networks. In addition to his professional experience, Nate graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Engineer in Training (EIT). Nate has been heavily involved with all his children’s sports activities. He has served as a Little League coach since 2011 and as a Little League board member since 2015. Nate is also a member of several industry-related organizations including AWWA and DBIA. Most notably, he is the founder and current chairman of the FWEA Contractor Committee. The Hillard family is also very active in their church in serving the less privileged in their community. Nate lives in Titusville, Florida, with his wife of 17 years and has three children.
