Wharton-Smith is providing Construction Management at Risk services for Virgin Trains USA Florida, LLC’s Orlando Vehicle Maintenance Facility. This project includes the construction of a vehicle maintenance facility (VMF) for Brightline’s new Rolling Stock (Locomotives and Passenger Cars) capable of performing light and heavy maintenance requirements including a fuel depot and train wash. The maintenance and attendant staff will be based at the VMF. The VMF is located on property leased from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority at the south end of the new South Terminal complex at Orlando International Airport (MCO). This will become the maintenance base of operations for Brightline’s passenger rail service in Florida. Future plans include a new passenger station at the new intermodal center at MCO that will serve future Terminals “C” & “D”. The project is expected to be completed in December 2021.
