City of Maitland Fire Rescue Station #45

Wharton-Smith, in partnership with ACi, provided design-build services for the new Maitland Fire Station No. 45.  Located in the heart of Maitland, the 15,500-square-foot, three-story fire house was constructed within a small footprint due to site constraints. The new structure features a three-bay apparatus, air tech and fill room, mezzanine level for storage, sleeping quarters, a gourmet kitchen and dining room, administrative offices, training room, and rooftop repelling deck. Work included the demolition of the existing fire and police station, site clearing, underground utilities, excavation and grading of a new retention pond, site work, and preservation of an existing Centennial Oak Tree. The project implemented energy efficient design and construction practices and achieved LEED Silver certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.
