Serving Seminole County, the John E. Polk Correctional Facility is an adult detention facility housing pre-trial felony and misdemeanor inmates with a design capacity of 1,396 inmates. The County correctional facility typically books more than 16,000 inmates per year. This 77,000-square-foot expansion added inmate housing for 432 beds and administration, intake and release space with sally port doors, public video visitation, increased capacity to the central energy plant, and provided extensive site work on the 4.25-acre property. The project was constructed in and around an operational facility over an 18-month period.
