Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant
Location: Conroe, Texas
Client: City of Conroe
Size: 11 MGD
Construction Cost: $6 million
Wharton-Smith restored the City of Conroe’s Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant that was flooded by Hurricane Harvey. The plant was inundated with up to 10 feet of flood water during the storm. Part of the effort included elevating new generators, electrical gear, and process equipment above the highest point of flood water experienced during the hurricane while keeping the plant in operation. The $6 million project restored the City of Conroe’s primary wastewater treatment facility back to normal operation while mitigating the effects of any future flooding.
