Tom Del Torto promoted to Business Development Executive for Carolinas Region
Charlotte, NC – Wharton-Smith Construction Group announced the promotion of Tom Del Torto to Business Development Executive of the Carolinas Region out of their Charlotte, NC office location.
Mr. Del Torto has over 28 years of construction experience, working on Commercial, Industrial, and Water/Wastewater projects in the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Tom has managed multi-million-dollar industrial and commercial projects from preconstruction to close-out and has maintained a 100 percent success rate of contract completion on or before the scheduled deadline. In addition to his professional experience, Tom has a degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Del Torto has worked as a Sr. Project Manager with Wharton-Smith since April 2017 and was instrumental in starting and growing the company’s Fort Myers satellite office. Prior to joining Wharton-Smith, Del Torto was a Sr. Project Manager at EnviroStruct—a full-service construction company headquartered in Bonita Springs, FL. He has worked and built relationships in the Southwest Florida region for over 20 years. During his career, Tom has successfully completed projects for the City of Fort Myers, FL; Charlotte County, FL; the Boston Red Sox; Tampa Bay Rays; and many other clients.
Throughout his career, Del Torto has prioritized the client and the community. Involved in the Elks Club, VFW, Army of Hope, and Habitat for Humanity, his relationship skills and philanthropic nature have aided in his success. Regarding his new role, Del Torto said, “My goal, once established in Charlotte, will be to join similar organizations and seek out alternative community engagement. My hopes are to promote the Wharton-Smith values here in Charlotte and reconnect with my family in the area.”

In his new position with Wharton-Smith, Del Torto will be partnering with Carolinas Directors of Operations, Bret Estridge and Sean Stanford, to create a blueprint for increasing business development activity in the region. He will identify and develop new business relationships and maintain a robust industry and community network. He will also work with the executive team to align business development goals with the strategic plan.
