Wharton-Smith Selected to Build $54 Million Hollywood Wastewater Treatment Plant

Jupiter FL – February 6, 2018 – Wharton-Smith’s South Florida Water/Wastewater Division was recently selected to construct a new 3 MGD wastewater treatment plant located at the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Hollywood Reservation. The new treatment plant will support residential and business growth on the reservation, including the $1.5 billion expansion of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino which is currently underway.

The 497-acre Hollywood Reservation is the headquarters of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and one of six Seminole reservations in the state. Currently, the wastewater treatment plant services about 300 homes and businesses located on the Reservation,…

Sanford, FL – On Friday, February 2, Wharton-Smith’s Commercial Division celebrated the great work being done by local subcontractors and team members on the comprehensive renovation/addition project for Orange County Public Schools’ Hillcrest Elementary School. The traditional topping out event marks a significant milestone in the completion of the project.

Wharton-Smith Celebrates Topping Out of Three Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project

Tampa, FL –– On January 19, 2018, Wharton-Smith’s Tampa-Water/Wastewater Division held a Topping Out Party to mark the completion of the first phase structural work on the Three Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant Oxidation Ditch Improvements project. More than 70 people attended including representatives from Lee County, the Three Oaks Wastewater Plant and project engineers CDM Smith, as well as subcontractors, vendors and field workers.

Wharton-Smith Selected as Construction Manager for New Westside Elementary School in Escambia County

Gulfport, MS – December 20, 2017 – Wharton-Smith, Inc. was recently selected as Construction Manager for the School District of Escambia County’s new $38 million Westside Elementary School project. Located on a 68-acre greenfield site in the Florida panhandle, the project involves mitigation of approximately 30 acres of jurisdictional wetlands. The 135,000 s.f. school will accommodate 801 students and will incorporate 21st Century Learning and sustainable features. Wharton-Smith Celebrates Dedication of New Innovation Middle School

Sanford, FL – December 11, 2017 – In pep rally fashion, hundreds of cheering students, faculty, school board members, and local partners gathered on December 6 to celebrate and officially dedicate the new Innovation Middle School for Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). Wharton-Smith and HZ Construction served as construction manager on the project.

Wharton-Smith Breaks Ground on Improvements to Osceola County’s Austin-Tindall Park

Sanford, FL – November 16, 2017 – “Today Osceola County is upping its game with a $10.7 million investment to improve Austin-Tindall Sports Complex,” said Osceola County Commissioner and Vice Chairman Fred Hawkins, Jr. as he addressed the crowd at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.
