Eagle Award Winners

With tremendous honor, we’re excited to share that four Wharton-Smith projects have been awarded the Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (CFC ABC) Excellence in Construction (EIC) Eagle Awards!

Each year, the CFC ABC recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects built by CFC ABC members, which are judged based on execution of design, quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail, proper installation, outstanding planning and coordination efforts, challenges successfully overcome, project complexity, custom materials, safety program, and owner satisfaction.

ASC Design-Build Award Winners

Shane Smith, Wharton-Smith Project Engineer Technician and Seminole State College of Florida student joined a team competing at the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Design-Build Competition and won second place! The team created an RFP for a cold storage facility, including an estimate, design elements, schedule, site plan, and site utilization plan, followed by an in-person presentation.

Mount Dora Fire Station No. 35 Groundbreaking

Officials from Mount Dora joined together with Wharton-Smith to break ground on Fire Station No. 35, which will serve the City of Mount Dora! 🚒🔥

The event included two fire service traditions — a blessing ceremony for the new site and fire engines and the time-honored commissioning of a new fire apparatus with an old-fashioned wetdown.

According to Project Executive Bert F., “This facility represents the City’s long-term investment in the Mount Dora community but also to the men and women who run towards danger to help those in crisis.”
